Pasco Rogato has been appointed the Premier Men's Coach for the 2012 Year. A family BBQ will be held on Sunday 22nd of January at 4.00 pm to enable players to "meet and greet" the clubs coaches and committee members. Training will commence on Tuesday 24th January. Other coaching appointments.

2011 : October : Presentation Night Awards

2011 : October : Our ladies team once again have secured the 2011 Premiership and for the first time in a number of years, the women's Grand Final trophy (defeating Edge Hill United 4-2 on penalties) ; the inter-city NQ Championships (defeating Burdekin 4-2) and the Stratford 6000 Ladies Carnival. This is officially a "clean sweep" of the 2011 competition. Our 3rd division men's team also enjoyed success in taking out the Premiership and the Grand Final ( defeating Stratford 3-1) however could not make it a treble and were defeated by Rebels Gold 2-1 in the NQ Championship game.

2011: October: A number of our player were noted as being in contention for awards in the 2011FNQ Football Presentations. Steven Dangaard, Leanne Sarota, Mathew Murphy, Paul Eigl, Pedro George, "Joey", Melissa Panetta, Richard Yong and Ken Bosence all had an outstanding year for the club. Leichhardt was also awarded the "Sportsmanship" award for the least number of infringements throughout the season. Steven Dangaard and Leanne Sarota, both goalkeepers, received the 2011 Golden Gloves award.

2011 : April :Congratulations to the Leichhardt Ladies for a successful pre-season tournament in winning the ladies division of the Mazda Cup held in Mareeba on 5th and 6th of March. The men's team also made it through to the final match but lost to Edge Hill in the decider.

2010 : October :Despite the fact that our Men's Premier League team did not meet the promise of their potential, Leichhardt still enjoyed success in the Men's Reserve Grade and Women's Division. The Reserved Grade went on to win the FNQ Grand Final and the Women were again competition Premiers. In addition Leichhardt players received individual honours at the FNQ Football awards.

The clubhouse has also undergone improvements and the upstairs office is now the Intercultural Community Development Centre. It will support all club and community members and promote learning and development with a wide range of activities.

2010 also saw the Hmong Cairns Football Association join the local 2nd Division competition. The Hmong have been using our facilities a White Rock as a home base and we wish them success in the coming year.

2011 will see an official name change for the club to "Leichhardt Football Club". The old title "Leichhardt Soccer Sport and Social Club" was adopted during the 80's as many players and supporters were also involved in other sports such as Indoor Cricket, Softball, Netball and Bocce and played under the Leichhardt name. The club was also a focal point for the "Alpini" (Ex-Italian northern border army) and other cultural groups and became a social haven for meetings and activities. The name change to "Leichhardt Football Club" brings the club into line with the FFA recommendations.
